Here’s what most people want to know before their first class at Loris Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
No. Loris welcomes complete beginners, and you are not expected to arrive already knowing how to train. Let the coach know it is your first class and they can help you understand where to begin.
You are not expected to walk in already knowing how to roll or spar. What happens during class depends on the program and session, so tell the coach you are new and ask what to expect before training begins.
Wear comfortable athletic clothes and bring a water bottle. For Jiu-Jitsu, choose a shirt and athletic shorts without zippers or exposed metal. You can ask the coach about a gi, gloves, shin guards, or other program-specific equipment before purchasing anything.

Yes. Loris offers Kids Jiu-Jitsu with age-specific groups for children ages 3–4, 5–7, and 8–12. Visit the Kids Jiu-Jitsu page to learn more.

You do not need to be in shape before starting. Begin at a manageable pace, communicate with the coach, and focus on learning the class structure and basic movements during your first visit.
